FUN AFTERNOON 2009
What
a fantastic day we had for once the sun shone and we had lots of
visitors through the door many old but quite a lot of new to so
THANK YOU all very much for coming as these days would not be successful
without you. As the years go on the sanctuary has grown in popularity
making the work behind the scenes ever more difficult however I
know that I can continue to run the sanctuary with my ever trusting
Volunteers who are always there by my side. I don’t think
there’s enough words to say to thank them for their loyalty
both at fundraising events and on the everyday running of the sanctuary
but I hope they know how much they mean to me as I don’t tell
them often enough. The biggest THANK YOU of all goes out to every
single one of them you are all very special people.
We managed to get three bunnies on reserve which is fantastic. Rosie
who has now been successfully bonded and gone to her new home and
Dusty and Ant who will be going shortly after their first vaccinations. We
hope that everyone who came enjoyed their day and if they have any
suggestions to improve these days please feel free to contact us
by e mail or phone with your ideas.

November
2008 Open Day
We
would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who came to the
Open Day and supported us despite the gale force winds in the morning
and torrential rain in the afternoon, without your help the sanctuary
would have to close. These days give us the opportunity to catch
up with all our regulars both old and new and find out how all the
bunnies we have placed in homes are settling and what mischief they
are getting up to.
A massive THANK YOU also goes out to all the volunteers who helped
with the lead up to the day and everyone who was there on the day
and stayed despite the weather. The Open Days would not be possible
without your help
We managed to get three bunnies and Chicco & Dawn a pair of
guinea pigs who have been at the sanctuary since the beginning of
the summer on reserve which is fantastic.
We hope that everyone who came enjoyed their day and if they have
any suggestions to improve these days please feel free to contact
us by e mail or phone with your ideas.
You
will be very pleased to know we raised a staggering
£1469.78

EASTER
FUN AFTERNOON 2008 RESULTS
This fun afternoon was probably one of the
hardest to organise as we had run out of funds in the Bunnies
bank account which meant we had no money to buy stock in for the
day but with the kind generosity of Darvill's Pets and Gardens in
Bradford a lot of our stock was provided sale or return so a BIG
THANK YOU goes to the staff at DARVILL'S. The day could also never
go ahead without all the volunteers who carry out the work leading
up to the day and everyone who comes on the day and mans the stalls
and brings the customers in etc. So a BIG BIG BIG THANK YOU GOES
OUT TO YOU ALL!!
Lastly
the day would never be a sucess without you the supporters so the
biggest THANK YOU goes to everyone who came on the day and made
the day a fantastic success and those who couldn't make it but kindly
sent donations. This afternoon was the biggest success we have had
in several years and means the sanctuary can stay open for the next
few months.

THIS MESSAGE IS TO SAY THANK YOU TO YORKSHIRE
BUILDING SOCIETY
It is fantastic when big organizations recognize the work we do
at the sanctuary and that is what happened at the beginning of september.
We received a letter informing us that the Yorkshire Building Society
had conducted a make a difference week in which customers and staff
where invited to nominate a cause which they would like the foundation
to support. We were nominated and the Trustees of Yorkshire Building
Society Charitable Foundation decided to make a donation of £200.00
to us.
This money will go a long way towards vaccinating and neutering
some of the 11 english babies that came into the sanctuary on Saturday
9th September so THANK YOU
to everyone who nominated us and THANK YOU to those who chose the
Bunny Camp Sanctuary.

THE
BIG RESCUE
The
first we heard of the problem was an urgent message that went out
on the internet…
80 Mini and Dwarf Lop Rabbits need YOUR help - 15/08/2006
The Rabbit Welfare help line took a call from a distressed landlord
who unexpectedly found himself having to care for around 80 rabbits
after his tenant moved out without them. The rabbits, all of which
are not spayed, neutered or vaccinated were being kept in very cramped
conditions and needed to be removed as soon as possible.
The RWA and Green Fields Rescue swung into action to obtain placements
for these rabbits either at rescues around the UK or with private
individuals who may be able to offer temporary housing and care.
With the UK’s rabbit rescue centres already bulging at the
seams with unwanted rabbits this comes as a particularly steep challenge!
Louise organised a team to travel down to Greenfields on Sunday
20th August.
Soon the team from Bunny Camp were checking through the rabbits
with Lorna As Bunny Camp is limited for space, Paul, Chris and Louise
were only looking for healthy rabbits to take with them. There was
one buck that they thought long and hard about before agreeing to
take. He’d had a ruptured tear duct, and the infected area
had then had fly strike, but despite a bald patch by his eye, Paul
thought the buck would be ok. Fate was to take a hand, but more
of that later.

There are 4 babies the 4th is the black bundle in corner Louise
fell in love with a mother (Jenny) and four kits, so they couldn’t
be left behind, then there was a pregnant female (Asha) too, and
so the list went on. In the end, the team started the long drive
home to Yorkshire with eleven rabbits in two cars. The next day
though, a really strange thing happened. The Buck that was almost
left behind because of his eye problem was put on reserve by our
very own Jayne, you can read the circumstance that brought Jayne
to put Minstral on reserve on the Memorial page.
The Sanctuary would like to say a very BIG THANK YOU to Louise,
Chris and Paul for giving up both their time and their money to
do the run to Greenfields to fetch all the Bunnies.
If anyone wishes to help as all these bunnies need vaccinating for
Myxomatosis and neutering so all Donations are welcome.
If you wish to read more on the Greenfields website go to our links
page.

A MESSAGE FOR CHOMPETZ
Working with bunnies is the most rewarding and fun job I could imagine
and as anyone who knows bunnies will know they like to play and
chew, so I was delighted when I told about a company called ChomPetz
as they provide a great variety of products for both chewing and
playing.
I contacted Linda at ChomPets about supplying the sanctuary with
a variety of products and she was so helpful and quick at replying
and supplying (infact 6 days from start to finish) so I wanted to
say
THANK YOU.
Anyone who is interested in their products can visit the website
by going to our links page.
